Meet the midwife
KIMBERLY McNALLY (she/her)
DNP, CNM, FNP-C, RN, IBCLC
Mother of six, partner, advocate, space holder, trusting in instinctual wisdom
It was 1996, a family friend was riding the waves of labor— standing in a hall doorway of her home as if riding the shocks of an earthquake. That was my first introduction to home birth— during my own first pregnancy. My first birth experience took place with Navy midwives. I thought choosing a midwife would get me the experience of my family friend— but in the hospital. I was blissfully unprepared for the conveyor belt of interventions my first baby and I would receive. I inched out, birth by birth, to find my way home.
As a young child, I was captured by birth. Often in pretend play, a friend would ‘give birth’ by wriggling a doll from underneath them. My intuition knew I would do this work. After years as a registered nurse, I became a nurse-midwife in 2012, hoping to open doors the widest by practice ability in all settings— from hospital to home. Over the years, I have practiced in all settings, but my heart is at home. It is the place our stories begin and are made full.
There is something wild and magical about birth occurring on its own terms, in its own power.
Safeguarding that journey is my path. I am honored to share in the beauty and transformation of birth and wellness.

. . .how much K and I appreciate you and your care for her and baby D. You have a wonderful gift of comforting your patients, and staying cool in the midst of any storm. I felt like I was your patient...even though I wasn’t the one receiving the direct care...lol. Thank you so much for what you did for my family. We will forever appreciate you, and you will always be a part of our family’s story!”
